Brite-View BV-2500 Wireless HD Kits Review
The Brite-View BV-2500 Wireless HD kit comes in the usual transmitter and receiver kit. The transmitter is called the BV-2500T and the receiver is called BV-2500R. Between these two, you can wirelessly connect almost any two devices that are HDMI enabled. The BV-2500 is capable of carrying 1080i@60hz and 1080p@24/30Hz HD signals compeltely uncompressed. So there is no lag and no quality loss. Other than that, its specifications also mention the other standard resolutions such as 720p, 576i, 480p, 480i. It also has component input and supports the various resolutions there too. On HDMI the lowest it can go is 480p.
When it comes to audio, it can carry analog audio at 48Khz/24-bit max and in digital it can carry a full DTS and a 3.072Mbps AC-3 standard. It is using the 5GHz frequency range (actual range between 4.9GHz and 5.9GHz), so the light of sight problem persists. It is similar to the likes of what Intel’s WiDi faces. From the looks of it, it would seem like Brite-View is using something similar to WirelessHD. They call it Air HD. The effective range is 20 meters, which is good. But it is only when there’s a clear line of sight, which is bad. One plus point is that the frequency range allows it to switch the frequency it encounters interference from another radio frequency by another wireless device.
There are only two types of connectors — HDMI and RCA. There are two sets RCA in’s for video and two sets for audio. It has two HDMI’s for input — something that will come in handy if you have two things you constantly switch between — for example a gaming console and a Blu-ray player.
Over all, installation is pretty straightforward for the Brite-View BV-2500 wireless HD kit and it does not have any problems whatsoever with various kinds of devices. One thing obvious thing that you need to watch out for is that you cannot switch on the transmitter with the supplied remote if you are in another room because it is using IR to transmit.
