Wisair Wireless USB PC To HD TV Kit
This is a wireless PC to HDTV connector kit called the Wisair Wireless USB A/V Adapter Set. It is yet another one of those plug and play solutions that will plug into any notebook/desktop trough USB/VGA and will transmit the image/video to an HDTV located somewhat far apart through HDMI. It comes in the typical transmitter/receiver pair.
This wireless kit also claims to be able to connect to other display units and projectors through a VGA out on the receiver end. So you can also set up external monitors through it and have extended or mirrored desktops. The range says full room coverage, which I am taking means that it can cover a distance of 20ft with ease. Hopefully it won’t have problems going through walls. in case the set up demands that one of the devices be in a separate room.
The technology at work seems to be proprietary where the company says it uses WSR601 single chip and Wisair’s UltraSpeed technology. From the spec sheet it is apparent that it can go up to a resolution of 1400×1050 (SXGA+) with WXGA resolution being an option too.
But even though they say that this is for HDTV’s and has a SXGA+ resolution capability, the spec sheet also says that HD video can go up to 720p — which is not really HD. It is more like a consolation prize when you can’t have HD. Another place where it loses points is its dependance on the Windows Platform. Looks like it can only run on Windows Vista or XP, which will again put off people who want to use Mac’s or both Mac’s and Windows.
However, this being an OEM product, it also says that it supports hardware/software customization. It is currently being sold under multiple brand names and out of them Atlona seems to be selling it for the lowest on Amazon.com — $110.
