Galaxy Outs Image WHDI-Enabled GTX 460, Speculations Follow

Earlier this year, we reported about Galaxy bringing out the world’s first WHDI enabled graphics card. And now it seems like Galay is following it up with tantalizing images of such a graphics card in the pixels. The image above looks clearly like a 3D render of a graphics card that is to come and a lot of things are intriguing about it.

In the earlier report, it was speculated that company might be bringing out a card based on the GTX-480 line. Well, now it seems like they are adapting the GTX-460 line with the Fermi architecture from NVIDIA. The main GTX-460 card that is already out on the market is quite the performer. It is a popular pick right now. There are already quite a few range versions of this card, including overclocking versions and reference/non-reference versions. So extending that into a new line with WHDI capabilities would be a good thing indeed.

From the image it is apparent that there are gold plated connectors on this new card. The GTX 460 shown in this image is the same length as the GTX 480 that was talked about in the previous report. The card is supposed to feature wire drawing technology and the company has also confirmed that the card will have the five gold-plated connectors that are seen in the image above.

According to a post at expreview this card seems to be a non-reference GTX460 with a P-BNC connector for accepting RF signal inputs and also for analog and serial digital video signals, amateur radio antenna connections, avionics (aviations electronics), etc. It is quite a versatile connector in today’s industry.

Also, the D-type interface has a larger bandwidth than the usual 15-pin interface — this will ideally result in goo video performance. This connector will enable the user to connect professional high frequency equipments. Looks like we have a high-end graphics product on our hands.

Galaxy has revealed no details about this card except for the fact that it is coming soon.
