Galaxy Brings World’s First WHDI-Enabled Graphics Card
This was bound to happen at one point of time or another. Here you have a great short range, wireless high definition media broadcasting technology like WHDI and you have so many people thinking about using it in creative ways with their computers. Galaxy has brought out a graphics card that lets you do just that.
Galaxy is not exactly talking about which graphics card will be graced with this technology but they have talking really enthusiastically about the test results. It turns out that they have been working on this for quite some time now and have achieved enough success to bring it to the market. Galaxy has been releasing cards based on the GeForce GTX-480 and GTX -480 GPU’s from NVIDIA and it is possible that one or more of these cards will finally receive WHDI integration.
Having WHDI directly on your WHDI opens up multiple possibilities. The most basic thing that you can do is stream your entire desktop in HD to your HDTV. You can of course also stream your game screens to your HDTV, making gaming a truly immersive experience. Just imagine the amount fun you can have with a large HDTV and a PC streaming a HD audio/video feed to your home theatre system wirelessly whilst you race against tough opponents or take part in an epic battle to decide the fate of the world.
WHDI has become one of the most important standards in the wireless HD streaming and this new development only goes to show that it has a lot of potential if it is applied correctly and with innovation. However, it still going to be tough for WHDI in the near future thanks to the WiGig alliance between the industry bigwigs who are promoting a rival standard.
