Antrica Release Full HD Video Over IP At 1080p60 Quality, Slightly Late To The Party?`

A company called Antrica has released a board level solution for sending video over IP. They seem to be a fairly news company who are focussed on providing local area solutions for private video streaming needs. Their boards seem to have a good set of specifications to back up the company’s claims but it seems like the whole attempt is a bit too late. With standards like WHDI, WirelessHD and WiGig battling it out in the market, small and relatively unknown startups like Antrica have a very low probability of seeing any siginificant success. Still, their products are worth having a look at.

Antrica is offering Video over IP solutions at the board level. Their primary products are the WiMi4k transmitter and receiver. Using these, video content can be sent from HDMI to HDMI interfaces at a latency of no more than 30ms. The transmitter and the receiver integrate WiFi at 5GHz to ensure high speed and extended reach while transmitting and displaying wirelessly. However, wireless is not the only application possible for this product. Since this is Video over IP, it can be turned in to a video server with any type of connection connecting the server to the device. Be it a wired or wireless IP network.

The video quality is preserved at up to 1080p60 and the transmitter is capable of decoding and encoding video with a high quality H.264 codec. It also allows VGA, DVI, Composite, HDMI and Component video to be sent through the system, making it a very versatile solution indeed. It can be done over a wired or a wireless network and the video is decoded at under 30ms. Audio is also transmitted along side video and it also transmitted IR data for remote control applications.

Even though it is a late entrant to the Wireless HD party, its other capabilities make it a good industrial player which will push it to realms far beyond the living room.
