LG Next-Gen Infinia TVs Inch Closer To Release
As we look forward to a positive deluge of devices enabled with WHDI and some other other wireless HD technologies, LG is moving forwarf towards the shipping of the new LG Infinia TVs. These TVs made quite a buzz at CES this year and they are full of technologies that will make your TV viewing experience like nothing before.
The LG Infinia TVs first popped up on everybody’s radar when LG announced their integration with Skype. This is a slim LED backlit Plasma TV that integrated seamless with Skype, bringing the online conferencing experience to the living room. This benefits Skype by letting them infiltrate a new market segment and it also benefits LG because it enables them to bring more the TV out of the box and make it more than just the ‘idiot box’.
This TV is also equipped with DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance), which allows users to wirelessly connect with home computers and networked storage devices via NAS. Infinia TVs can also play content from these sources, like music and videos. It supports direct playing from USB drives that can now be plugged into the TV. There’s support for popular video formas like DivX and eve Matroska (.mkv).
All of the Infinia TVs are 3D ready and can connect to the internet to bring online entertainment to the living room. But best of all, these TVs can be set up with an optional Wireless Media Box. The user can connect Blu-ray players, game consoles, etc. to this box and it will then stream the video and audio wirelessly to the TV using the WHDI technology over the 5GHz spectrum.
Since this is WHDI at work here, there’s no loss of quality in either video or audio and the streaming has no noticeable lag. So the user can now enjoy a seamless quality without messy wires. According to LG, Infinia will be available in April this year.
